Elisa Luciano Wins Second International Grant
November 9, 2014
Congratulations to Carlo Alberto Fellow Elisa Luciano, who won a two-year grant from the Global Risk Institute in Ontario, Canada. She is the only Italian national who won this grant as principal Investigator. Her co-Investigator in this project is Luca Regis, IMT Lucca.
Elisa won the grant for a project titled "Hedging and risk-return frontier in insurance: an Asset-Liability Management (ALM) perspective". ALM in Insurance is a challenging field of research, and the approach adopted in this project is novel, since most of the current literature separates financial and traditional actuarial risks, without considering how the hedging of longevity risk --by absorbing financial resources and changing the liabilities mix-- affects asset management choices and, ultimately, exposure to financial risks.
This success follows the award of the Bachelier Institute of Finance prize, which Elisa received in 2013, for a project titled "The organization of banks and their affiliates", on which she is currently working with Clas Wihlborg of Chapman University.
