 Visiting Fellowships in Italian Studies (FIS)

The Collegio Carlo Alberto in Moncalieri (Torino), and a network of Italian Universities and research centers, are inviting applications to a minimum of five "Visiting Fellowships in Italian Studies". The broad area of interest of the fellowships include political science, international relations, public policy, comparative politics, sociology, anthropology, European studies and Italian contemporary history. The goal of the program is to stimulate interest in Italy and in Italian affairs among the American scientific and policy-analysis communities. It is aimed at both established scholars and PhD Students, who will be able to work at the Collegio in close collaboration with a network of participating institutions: Aspen Italia, Istituto Affari Internazionali, the Universities of Catania, Firenze, Milano (Cattolica), Milano (Statale), Parma, Roma Tre, Siena, Torino and Trento.

Eligibility
Eligible candidates are researchers working in American universities and research centers on projects including Italy as a case study, even if framed within a larger comparative study. They are either established scholars who have developed a successful research program after receiving a PhD degree, or PhD students at an advanced stage in their dissertation work.

Terms
Fellowships are awarded for periods ranging from three to six months. They offer salaries in line with international standards along with research support.

The Collegio
Recipients will be hosted at the Collegio Carlo Alberto and, for the purpose of their research, they can spend part of their time at one or more participating research institutions. A detailed description of the Collegio can be found at www.carloalberto.org

Application Procedure and Deadlines
Candidates should submit online their application at the following web site

They should include a curriculum vitae indicating at least two references (in the case of PhD students, one of these should be the thesis advisor) and a brief research project (max 1000 words - in the case of PhD students indicating linkages to the dissertation).

Candidates should preferably submit their applications by February 15th 2010, June 15th 2010 or October 15th 2010. A selection committee will meet in late February, June, and October to review applications received. The arrival, departure and duration of stay of the fellows will be negotiated by a scientific project officer.
