Assistant professor in Political Science
Collegio Carlo Alberto (www.carloalberto.org) seeks to appoint an assistant professor in Political Science. The contract is for 4 years with the possibility of a 3 year renewal, depending on performance. The salary is internationally competitive, in line with the appointee’s qualifications. The successful candidate will have a substantial methodological expertise in either quantitative or qualitative methods and an ability to teach one or more of the following topics: politics and policy of the EU; public opinion, electoral behaviour and political communication in contemporary Europe.
The appointee will be expected to
(i) pursue his/her research projects, and strengthen his/her academic profile;
(ii) teach 90 hours a year (standard load for assistant professors), either at the Collegio (for the Master in Public Policy and Social Change - MAPS) or at the University of Turin;
(iii) participate in the intellectual life of the Collegio and the University, e.g. by taking part in the organisation of seminars, in collaborative research projects and writing grant applications.
(iv) The appointee may also be asked to take on administrative duties linked with MAPS.
(v) To reside in Turin or surrounding area
The appointment begins in September 2018.
Collegio Carlo Alberto is an interdisciplinary research centre and graduate school founded in 2004 by Compagnia di San Paolo and the University of Torino. Its mission is to foster research and education in the social sciences, in accordance with the values and practices of the international academic community. Collegio Carlo Alberto provides a stimulating interdisciplinary environment with experienced scientists from Economics, Sociology and Political Science. English is the official operating language of the Collegio.

1) CV and a list of publications;
2) Two publications which the applicant considers representative of his or her work;
3) A document, of a maximum of 2000 words, describing the research the applicant intends to pursue in the next four years. It should specify the objectives and the scope, give some preliminary indications of the methodology, of the empirical components and sources, of the organisation envisaged (e.g. the possible running of a research team), and of the funding that may be needed. It should also include some indications on the intended outcome and dissemination.
4) Names and full contact details of at least two referees.

A Selection Committee composed of members of the Collegio Carlo Alberto Faculty will compile a short list of candidates to be invited to Collegio for an interview and to give a seminar to the CCA Faculty. Interviews are expected to take place between the end of May and mid June 2018.
