The International Festival of Economics 2025
"The new citizens of the world"
From 30 May to 2 June 2025 the city of Turin will host the 4th edition of the International Festival of Economics. The topic of the 4th edition is "The new citizens of the world".
Scientific research, informal but rigorous dissemination, pluralism of ideas, autonomy from political and economic influences: these are the components of the International Festival of Economics.
Following the success of the first three editions, which focused respectively on "Who Owns Knowledge" (2024), "Rethinking Globalization" (2023), and "Merit, Diversity, and Social Justice2 (2022), the Festival will return to some of the most beautiful venues in the center of the Piedmontese capital from May 30 to June 2, 2025, hosting the world’s leading economists working on this cutting-edge topic, as well as researchers studying it across many other disciplines.
In this year's edition, the Festival will explore the challenges and opportunities facing younger generations, covering topics such as youth distress, labor market transformations, education, and mental health.
The event features over 100 discussions with economists, sociologists, psychologists, and writers, including Nobel laureates Daron Acemoglu, James Heckman, Paul Krugman, Christopher Pissarides, and Michael Spence.
The International Festival of Economics is curated by Editori Laterza, Collegio Carlo Alberto – Turin Local Committee (TOLC) under the scientific direction of Tito Boeri. The event is promoted by TOLC, which brings together the Piedmont Region, the City of Turin, the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation, the CRT Foundation, the University of Turin, the Polytechnic of Turin, the Turin Chamber of Commerce, Unioncamere Piedmont, Unione Industriali Turin, and Legacoop, coordinated by the Collegio Carlo Alberto.
We are working on the program for the new edition. We look forward to seeing you in Turin!

"A gem for the international public that no researcher in the world can decline the invitation and a precious opportunity for the economists themselves to have in a few days an in-thesis representation of the most relevant research, learned from the voices of colleagues. While for the general public the festival is an extraordinary opportunity to connect economic theories to everyday life."
Michael Spence, Nobel Prize for Economics in 2001
