DataLab matches the demand for data analysis and economic modeling coming from firms and institutions with the supply of research skills provided by researchers within the network of Collegio Carlo Alberto. Director

Federico Ravenna is Carlo Alberto Chair in Monetary Policy and Financial Markets at Collegio Carlo Alberto, and an adjunct professor at Copenhagen Business School and HEC Montreal. From 2016 to 2022, he held the position of Head of Research and Chief Policy Adviser at Danmarks Nationalbank. He has been a member of the Nationalbank Central Bank Committee and the European System of Central Banks Heads of Research Committee, as well as a Senior Adviser to Sveriges Riksbank, the central bank of Sweden. He is an associate editor of the International Journal of Central Banking.

Stefano Favaro is Professor of Statistics at the University of Torino and holder of the Carlo Alberto Chair of Statistics and Machine Learning at the Collegio Carlo Alberto. Since 2017 he is Associate Member at the Department of Statistics of the University of Oxford, and Research Fellow at the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Information Technologies of the CNR. Stefano Favaro is the author of about 80 publications in Statistics, Machine Learning and Information Theory, in collaboration with both academia and industry, and serves on the editorial board of leading journals of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics and of the Bernoulli Society for Mathematical Statistics and Probability.

Chief Research Officer, DataLabMicro

Francesco Passarelli is Professor of Economics at the University of Turin. He received an MS in Economics from Bocconi University, an MA in Economics from Université Catholique de Louvain, and a PhD in Economics from Bocconi University. He is a Fellow of Collegio Carlo Alberto, a Research Fellow of Baffi-Carefin Center at Bocconi, a Fellow of CESIfo, and a Senior Research Fellow of the Italian Institute for Foreign Policy Studies. He has been spending extended visiting periods at Dartmouth College and Harvard University. His research focuses on Political Economy, with particular emphasis on psychological aspects of individuals’ behavior. His work has been published in numerous leading academic journals, such as the Journal of Political Economy, the Journal of Public Economics, and the American Journal of Political Science.

Luca Gambetti is Professor of Econometrics at the Università di Torino and Collegio Carlo Alberto part-time Chair. Previously, he was Associated Professor at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and Associate Research Professor at the Barcelona School of Economics (BSE), where he still holds a part-time position. His research is in the field of Macroeconometrics and Empirical Macroeconomics. His record of publications includes articles published in top-field journals like Journal of Monetary Economics, Economic Journal and American Economics Journal: Macroeconomics. He has been consultant for the European Central Bank for several years, director of the PhD program at UAB, and he is currently director of the Barcelona Macroeconometrics School.

Ainoa Aparicio-Fenoll is currently an Associate Professor at University of Turin. She is also an Affiliate at Collegio Carlo Alberto as well as CHILD, IZA and  LABORatorio R. Revelli Research Fellow.  She is Associate Editor of the Journal of Population Economics and Co-editor of the BE Journal Economics Analysis & Policy. She received her PhD in Economics in 2010 at Universitat Pompeu Fabra. Her research interests lie in the fields of Labor, Education, Migration and Family Economics, Applied Econometrics. Up to now, she has worked on issues related to job quality, the implications of product market competition for the labor market, the economics of migration, group interactions and network effects, the economics of education, the implications of economic booms for education decisions, recessions and babies' health, the impact of education policies on migration flows, and language economics.

Nadia Campaniello is currently Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Turin (ESOMAS Department). She is also an Affiliate at the Collegio Carlo Alberto (Turin), a Fellow at the IZA-Institute of Labor Economics (Bonn) and an External Affiliated Member at the NHH-Norwegian School of Economics (Bergen).
Before joining the University of Turin she was a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Economics of the University of Essex (UK). She has been a visiting scholar at  the University of Cologne (Germany), the  European University Institute (Florence, Italy), the Norwegian School of Economic (Bergen, Norway),  IZA (Bonn, Germany), Princeton University (US), Rand Corporation (Santa Monica, US) and the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (Spain), Her research interests are Labor Economics, Economics of Crime and Public Economics.

Specialized in empirical analysis of labor economics, he is an expert in the statistical treatment of administrative data sets. He has primarily focused on analyses related to worker mobility, wage dynamics, and non-standard employment contracts. He has participated in numerous research activities and projects. At the Collegio Carlo Alberto, he manages and coordinates the activities of the DataLab and collaborates with the Impact Evaluation Unit, which evaluates the impact of a wide variety of programs and policies.
