Introductory courses

There are two introductory courses in late August / early September:

• Introductory Statistics
• Mathematics for Economics

First semester

The first semester is the core of our program. Students must take the following four courses:

• Dynamic Macroeconomics
• Econometric Theory I
• Microeconomic Theory
• Optimization for Economics

Moreover, there is an elective course that many students take:

• Introduction to STATA

There are also other electives. We typically encourage students not to take them. Otherwise, the workload would be too heavy:

• Causal Inference: Theory and Practice
• International Economics
• Macroeconometrics

January-February

This is a short Winter term, where students can choose among short courses:

• General Equilibrium Theory
• Introduction to Python
• Measure Theory

Second Semester

In their second semester, there is only one mandatory course:

• Econometric Theory II

Students can then choose among many elective courses, including participating in the DataLab.

• Applied Economics
• Development, Income Distribution, and Trade
• Financial Economics
• Game Theory
• Monetary Economics
• Structural Econometrics with Computational Applications
• Data Lab
