Workshop “Industrial Relations in a Changing World”
19 February 2026 @ 09:00 - 20 February 2026 @ 17:00
IV LABORatorio R. Revelli Biannual Workshop
Industrial Relations in a Changing World
Organized by The LABORatorio R. Revelli – Center for Employment Studies, University of Turin and Collegio Carlo Alberto
The recent years have been characterized by new challenges, such as those arising from global shocks, inflation, stagnation, technological change and increasing inequality. The system of industrial relations can play a crucial role in mitigating the risks related to such trends, protecting workers, and promoting firm efficiency and growth.
The characteristics of collective bargaining and other wage setting institutions, the presence of co-determination mechanisms in the governance of firms, the management of human resources, the organization of labor, the influence and representativeness of trade unions, and policy interventions regulating the employer-employee relationship should be closely examined and re-evaluated in the new economic landscape that has emerged in the recent years.
Call for papers
This workshop invites submissions of papers studying the broad influence of industrial relations and of public policies regulating the employer-employee relationship on workers, firms, and inequalities.
The workshop stems from the LABORatorio’s twenty-five-year experience in the study of labor market dynamics and aims to promote the exchange of research ideas among the scientific community. It will feature both plenary and poster sessions and two keynote lectures by Giulia Giupponi (Bocconi University) and Raffaele Saggio (University of British Columbia).
A special session in honor of Bruno Contini (Professor Emeritus of the University of Turin, Honorary Fellow of Collegio Carlo Alberto, and founder of Laboratorio R. Revelli) will also take place. The session will feature a dedicated lecture delivered by David Card (UC Berkeley, Nobel laureate 2021).
A 500 Euro prize in the name of Riccardo Revelli – a pioneer in the use of administrative data for labor market analysis – will be awarded to the best contribution (either poster or paper) by a young researcher.

Submissions should be sent to labor@laboratoriorevelli.it no later than October 19th 2025, indicating if you prefer a paper or poster presentation; in case of overcrowding of accepted paper presentations, some will be randomly assigned to the poster session.
