Third Workshop on Gender and Education
Jointly organized by CCA, University of Turin, GRINS Foundation and Women in Social and Public Policy Research Hub (WISPPRH) at the LSE.
The Third Workshop on Gender and Education adopts mainly an economic lens to critically examine traditional narratives surrounding educational disparities.
It extends the analysis beyond conventional gender gaps—such as male underperformance in literacy and female underrepresentation in STEM fields—to include the educational challenges faced by LGBTQ+ individuals.
By exploring how early educational choices, influenced by societal norms and stereotypes, impact human capital development, the workshop highlights the long-term economic implications of these disparities.
This comprehensive approach underscores the necessity for inclusive educational policies that address the multifaceted nature of inequality, aiming to optimize labor market outcomes and promote equitable economic growth.
The workshop was jointly organized by the Collegio Carlo Alberto, University of Turin, GRINS Foundation and the Women in Social and Public Policy Research Hub (WISPPRH) at the LSE. WISPPRH brings together researchers studying the causes and consequences of gender inequality in education, labour markets, and the family, and supports evidence-based policymaking to advance equality. Their collaboration helped frame a truly interdisciplinary and policy-relevant agenda across the two days of sessions.
