Fellows and Affiliates – Research Funds
The Research Funds Program
As stated in the previous page, F&A are expected to perform several “service” activities which help the Collegio fulfil its mission in terms of research, education and outreach (item 2).
The Collegio recognizes and promotes such activities by providing the Fellow/Affiliate (F/A) with individual research funds (up to a maximum of euro 3000), available in the following calendar year in accordance with the rules and limitations for usage of research funds in effect. In order to be granted such funds, the F/A fills out an application (details on the timing below) in which s/he details the services rendered to the Collegio in the course of the previous 12 months, according to the following classification:
Research:
- Active participation in the CCA’s seminar series (e.g.: meeting/lunch/dinner with a speaker, presenting a seminar oneself), including job market seminars, Seminars in Economics of Innovation, Law, Politics and Society and Statistics.
- Application to external funding agencies/institutions/private partners for a research project which will generate overhead for the Collegio; active participation in one of the strategic funding initiatives of the Collegio (BDU, DataLab); other fundraising activities.
- Coordination of research activities (co)funded by the Collegio (e.g., research grants connected to a “Progetto di Eccellenza” with CCA funds, Statistics Initiative, LTI).
- Other (research) activities or initiatives bolstering the international visibility of CCA’s research, or opening up new strategic avenues for the development of the Collegio’s research impact, with a special emphasis on interdisciplinary projects.
Education:
- Coordination role (director/coordinator or deputy director/coordinator) in one of the educational programs which the Collegio co-organizes (Allievi, Master programs, Dottorato).
- Tutoring/mentoring/advising of Allievi or doctoral students.
- Other activities aimed at the development of the Collegio’s educational programs, carried out in collaboration/partnership with UniTo.
Outreach:
- Participation in an outreach event of the Collegio (e.g., Pareto Lecture, AY Inauguration, Commencement, Collegio Aperto series); active participation in and/or organization of outreach events (e.g., FIE events, Lectures for High School students).
Administration:
- Participation in the administration of the Collegio (e.g., member of the Faculty Council); participation in recruitment efforts (e.g., member of the recruitment committee); participation in other Collegio committees (e.g., Gender Equality, Student Code of Conduct).
After the expiry of the application deadline, the Faculty Council meets and reviews all the self-reports, Each report is scored on a scale of 0-100.
Applicants with a score lower than 20/100 will not be granted funds for the following year. For the year 2025, all applicants with a score greater than or equal to 20/100 will be awarded funds in equal quantity (not exceeding the maximum of 3000 euros per person), the exact amount being dependent on the total number of awardees and on the total amount of the 2025 Research Fund program, as determined by the Collegio’s Board of Directors.
