Giovanna Invernizzi publishes in the American Journal of Political Science
We would like to extend our warmest congratulations to our Post-doc Fellow Giovanna Invernizzi, on the publication of her article “Institutions and Political Restraint” in the American Journal of Political Science, one of the top journals in this field.
Her article, co-authored with Michael M. Ting, discusses the deterioration of political norms globally and how they interact with institutional checks and balances. The authors present a model that studies the impact of norms and institutional constraints on policymaking over an infinite horizon. They find that political cooperation is easier in systems with fewer checks and balances when norms are strong and that increasing polarization makes norms easier to uphold, but it also reduces welfare.
Invernizzi’s work is a valuable contribution to the field of political science and sheds important light on the interaction of political norms with institutional checks and balances.
