FIE 2022 impact evaluation

The Turin Local Committee (TOLC) coordinated by Fondazione Collegio Carlo Alberto commissioned a report to assess the impact of the International Festival of Economics 2022 (FIE), in terms of both economic outcome and audience satisfaction.

FIE 2022, designed by Editori Laterza with the scientific supervision of prof. Tito Boeri, took place from 31 May to 4 June 2022 in different Turin locations.

The assessment study was carried out by the Association for the Development of Evaluation and Analysis of Public Policies (ASVAPP), assisted by a scientific committee including Giovanna Segre (University of Turin), Guido Guerzoni (Bocconi University), Chiara Pronzato (University of Turin) and Daniela Del Boca (University of Turin), with the collaboration of Giuseppe Russo (Director, Centro Luigi Einaudi).

The results of the evaluation show a significant economic return of FIE in the Piedmont region and in Turin: the organizers’ and visitors’ direct expenses, equal to 920.000 euros, generated an overall regional production equal to 2.9 million euros (multiplier 3.2). The report also highlights a high degree of audience satisfaction, measured through the analysis of about a thousand questionnaires filled out by the participants during the five days of the Festival, who also shared their willingness to attend its next editions based on this year’s positive experience.

The theme of the 2023’s edition, which will take place in Turin on June 1-4, is “Rethinking Globalization”.
