Prestigious international awards to two Allievi Honors Program alumni
We are proud to announce that two Allievi Honors Program alumni have received prestigious international awards:
– Filippo Ascolani (https://filippoascolani.github.io/) has been selected to receive the 2024 IMS Lawrence D. Brown PhD Student Award by the Institute of Mathematical Statistics, the biggest scientific society worldwide in the fields of Statistics and Probability. The award is bestowed each year to three young researchers who have not yet received their PhD; the winners are invited to deliver a talk at the IMS annual meeting.
After obtaining his M.Sc. in Stochastics and Data Science from the University of Torino and his Master in Statistics and Applied Mathematics from the CCA Allievi Honors Program, Filippo is about to complete his PhD in Statistics at Bocconi University, under the supervision of Antonio Lijoi and Igor Pruenster. He will join Duke University (USA) as Assistant Professor from January 2024.
– Matteo Giordano (https://matteogiordano.weebly.com/) received the honorable mention of the Savage Award for his doctoral thesis in the category Theory and Methods. The award, named in honor of Leonard J. “Jimmie” Savage, is bestowed each year by the International Society for Bayesian Analysis to two outstanding doctoral dissertations in Bayesian Econometrics and Statistics, one in ‘Theory and Methods’ and one in ‘Applied Methodology’. In 2021 Cecilia Balocchi, another alumna of the Allievi Honors Program, was awarded the honorable mention for the same award in the category Applied methodology.
Matteo developed his doctoral thesis during his PhD in Mathematical Statistics at the University of Cambridge (UK), under the supervision of Richard Nickl, after obtaining his M.Sc. in Mathematics from the University of Torino and his Master in Statistics and Applied Mathematics from the CCA Allievi Honors Program. He recently joined the University of Torino as Assistant Professor.
The Collegio Carlo Alberto community warmly congratulates these outstanding Alumni.
